My Journey

My journey to Jordan was as unexpected as it was transformative. It offered a unique opportunity for cultural immersion, notably through significant interactions with the Palestinian community and the nomads of Wadi Rum. These encounters provided a rich human context to the stark, breathtaking landscapes of the region. The experience of desert life—its hospitality, its ancient traditions, and its raw environmental beauty—became a central theme of this series. Working en plein air presented its own set of challenges; the formidable heat required a swift, decisive approach to my mark-making. The sketches presented here are an exploration of that light and atmosphere. Jordan is a country of endless visual narratives, and this collection serves as a primary record of my desire to capture its complex history and the enduring spirit of its people.
